On June 14, 2011, at about 8:17 PM, the La Mesa Police Department responded to a call of a robbery that had just occurred at the Zales Jewelry Store located in the Grossmont Center shopping mall, 5500 Grossmont Center Dr., La Mesa.

The store’s manager advised that he had just closed the business and was locking the doors. He stated there was still one customer in the store. As he approached the customer, the subject pulled out a black semi-auto handgun and pointed it at the manager.  The suspect then told the manager and one other employee to get on the ground.  The suspect obtained the keys to a display case from the manager.  He opened a display case and took several pieces of jewelry, placed them into a plastic shopping bag.  The suspect then opened the door and fled through the mall.

There was no suspect vehicle seen.  There were no injuries during the robbery.

Police used the assistance of ASTREA, but were unable to locate the suspect.

The suspect is described as:

1. White male adult, 23-26 years old, 6’0”-6’2”, 150-160 Lbs., wearing a white or gray T-shirt, and unknown color pants.
