On June 15, 2011, at about 3:57 PM, the La Mesa Police Department received a 911 call from a resident at a large condominium complex at 5700 Baltimore Drive, La Mesa. The female resident said that two black males knocked on her front door for several minutes but she did not answer because she did not recognize them. A short time later, the resident heard her kitchen window screen being removed and saw one of males begin to enter through the window. The resident yelled out and the suspect fled the scene.
La Mesa Police Officers and the San Diego Sheriff’s Department Astrea helicopter responded to the area to search for the suspects. A short time later, two juveniles, 16 and 17 years old, both of La Mesa, were detained a few blocks away. They were confirmed to be the burglary suspects and also possessed a loaded, concealed, stolen handgun from another recent La Mesa residential burglary.
The both suspects were taken to Juvenile Hall and will be charged with burglary and possession of stolen property. The 16 year old was also charged with possession of a loaded concealed gun. |
