News release regarding attempted robbery at Grossmont Shopping Center. PDF Print E-mail
On 07-16-11, at approximately 8:36 P.M., La Mesa Police Officers responded to a report of a robbery at the Grossmont Shopping Center, located at 5500 Grossmont Center Drive in the City of La Mesa.

A 33 year old female victim was talking on her cell phone near the Panda Express, when two juvenile female suspects approached her from behind. One of the suspects grabbed the victim’s cell phone and attempted to pull it away from the victim. The victim held onto her cell phone and a struggle ensued. The two female suspects began hitting the victim in the head and face in an attempt to take the cell phone. The victim held onto her cell phone and the suspects ran away towards the Grossmont Trolley Station. One suspect was detained at the Grossmont Trolley Station. The second suspect has not been located. The victim received a minor injury that consisted of slight swelling to her left cheek.

A 14 year old female from El Cajon was arrested for 664/211 PC Attempted Robbery. She was released to a parent.

The second suspect has not been identified. She was described as a black female, 15 years old, 5’5”, 130 pounds with a medium build. She had black long hair in a pony tail, and she was wearing a light blue t-shirt, denim shorts and was carrying a gold purse.
