| Parolee Arrested After Assault On Officer |

On October 12, 2011, at about 3:45 AM, a La Mesa Police officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop on a suspicious vehicle. Before the officer could exit his patrol vehicle, the suspect vehicle reversed and violently slammed into the officer’s vehicle. The suspect vehicle then fled in his vehicle at a high rate of speed northbound on Lake Murray Boulevard. The officer was able to catch up to the vehicle just as it had come to a stop at the dead-end of 9400 Lake Murray Boulevard. The suspect jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot. The suspect was caught and arrested. It was later determined that the suspect was a Parolee at Large and the vehicle he was driving was an unreported stolen from the City of El Cajon.
The suspect, 49 year-old Henry Zimmeth from Lakeside was booked into county jail on the following charges:
- Assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer - Resisting an officer with force - Possession of a stolen vehicle and - A parole hold.
There were no injuries during the incident. The officer’s vehicle sustained moderate frontend damage. |
