Attempted Robbery at Rodeway Inn on Spring St PDF Print E-mail
On 10-14-11 at approximately 9:50 P.M., La Mesa Police Officers responded to a report of a robbery at the Rodeway Inn, located at 4210 Spring Street in the City of La Mesa. The clerk at the Rodeway Inn reported an attempted robbery. Suspect #1 entered the lobby office while Suspect #2 stayed outside the front door acting as a lookout. Suspect #1 attempted to kick the office door open but he was unsuccessful. Suspect #1 then stood in front of the check-in desk, pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded money. The clerk refused to hand over any money because he realized the suspect was holding a BB gun. Suspect #1 demanded money a second time and the clerk refused him again. Suspect #1 gave up on the robbery and ran out the front doors. Suspect #1 and Suspect #2 were last seen running west through the parking lot toward Gateside Road.

The clerk was not injured during the attempted robbery. The suspects were not found and their identities are not known. Suspect #1: Black male, mid 20's, 6'1", 175 pounds, with a thin build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black jeans and black shoes. He was armed with a black BB gun with a brown handle. The suspect concealed his identity with the hood of his sweatshirt. Suspect #2: Black male, mid 20's, 6'0", 185 pounds, with a stocky build. He was wearing a red t-shirt, red shorts, white socks and black shoes. He concealed his identity with a purple towel wrapped around his face.
