| Assault with a Knife at Parky's Bar Ends with Arrest |

On 02-05-12 at approximately 11:38 P.M., La Mesa Police Officers responded to a report of fight involving knives at Parky’s Bar, located at 6149 Lake Murray Boulevard in the City of La Mesa. When officers arrived they found two Hispanic males with facial wounds lying on the ground outside the bar. The bartender and a patron of the bar reported being assaulted by the two Hispanic males. The bartender told officers that the two Hispanic males were heavily intoxicated and were causing a disturbance inside the bar. The bartender asked the Hispanic males to leave the bar. One of the Hispanic males became angry and threw a glass at the bartender. The bartender was not hit with the glass. When the bartender and a patron of the bar attempted to physically remove the Hispanic males from the bar, a struggle ensued and both Hispanic males armed themselves with pocket knives. One of thte Hispanic males waved the knife back and forth in front of the bartender and then threw the knife at the patron, who was in a struggle with the other Hispanic male. The patron was not hit with the knife. The bartender and the patron managed to subdue both Hispanic males without being injured. Suspect #1: David John Garcia, 41 years old from La Mesa. Garcia was booked into San Diego County Jail for 245 P.C. Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Suspect #2: Michael Henry Granillo, 22 years old from San Diego. Granillo was admitted to the hospital with facial injuries. He will also be charged with 245 P.C. Assault with a Deadly Weapon. |
